What happens if I have a problem with the motorhome?
All our motorhomes are purchased new in New Zealand and are regularly dealer-maintained and serviced. We are members of the Automobile Association (AA) nationwide service and recovery group with 24-hour breakdown cover.
What does “self-contained” and “self-sufficient” mean to me?
Your motorhome is certified Self-Contained so you can “freedom-camp” and take it onto campsites which require this certification. It means it meets the ablutionary and sanitary needs of the occupants for a minimum of three days without requiring external services or discharge to waste. Fresh water is stored in tanks. Waste water is collected in a tank and disposed of at a dump station connected to a sewerage scheme. Dump stations are found throughout New Zealand and at campgrounds.
Self-Sufficient means your motorhome does not need to be plugged into mains/shore power. You have diesel heating, gas cooking, refrigerator and water heating and solar-charged batteries for lighting and entertainment.
How are the appliances powered?
When DRIVING the following work: - fridge, battery charging, CD/DVD player & lighting.
When FREEDOM camping without mains/shore 240v power: fridge, CD/DVD & TV, diesel heater, lights, oven/grill/hob, hot water, flushing toilet, hot shower & the solar battery charging
At CAMPSITE plugged into mains/shore 240v power: everything including microwave, electric kettle/jug & toaster, your laptop and your hairdryer
Can I flatten the battery and be stranded?
The vehicle (starter) battery is not connected to the appliances so can not be flattened by using lights or the fridge etc.
Can I get a refund for early return?
No. If you choose to terminate your hire early no refunds will apply.
Can I extend my hire?
Yes, but only by arrangement and depending on availability.
Does New Zealand have dangerous wildlife?
We don't have any dangerous snakes, spiders or crocodiles. The worst you may encounter are sandflies (your motorhome has flyscreens on the windows and door).
